One thing that’s always been important to me – and that I’m actually making the time for lately! – is reading.

Of course, when reading a great book I usually can’t resist the urge to make some sketchnotes, both to process the information for better understanding and retention, as well as to have a handy one-page summary for quick and easy recall. But this time I made a whole mural – this book was just that good!

So what’s the big deal? Well, as
you can see in the mural, Benson describes many health benefits to having a daily Relaxation Response practice.

In addition, there are quite a few ways that it can enhance our performance, for example in athletic and creative endeavors.

Sounds pretty sweet, but how can all this be achieved?

Well, I definitely recommend picking up a copy of his book, but meanwhile you can follow thru the illustrated summary in this mural for his Relaxation Response process.

Benson describes the Relaxation Response as “a physical state of deep rest that changes the physical and emotional responses to stress… and the opposite of the fight or flight response.” Even a little dose of this each morning and evening certainly does the trick for me to feel both more relaxed and inspired.

Do you practice any form of meditation yourself? If so, I’d love to hear how you do it and what you’ve noticed are the benefits in your life – share with us in a blog comment below!
